Grammy-winner Lucky Daye will be playing in Trix on Sunday 25 September. With his second album, 'Candydrip', the American musician brings the perfect combination of classic and contemporary R&B, which he will present in Antwerp this autumn.
Lucky Daye soon discovered his love for songwriting. A city like New Orleans, where soul and R&B flow, was a good source of inspiration. Nevertheless, after Hurricane Katrina, he moved first to Atlanta and then to Los Angeles to kick-start his musical career. He wrote songs for Mary J. Blige and Ella Mai, among others, before starting his own oeuvre. His debut album 'Painted' features an energetic mix of funk sounds from the seventies, soulful croons and modern swagger. For the EP 'Table For Two' he received the Grammy for 'Best Progressive R&B Album'. For the new 'Candydrip' he worked again with producer D'Mile. The sound is further explored with more rap, lo-fi soul and pop, with impressive vocals, smooth beats and poetic lyrics. The temperature in Trix will easily rise 10 degrees on Sunday 25 September when Lucky Daye takes the stage.
